Our foundational rule
The Humanity Pledge
Effective and last updated: 17 July 2026
1. The pledge
Everything posted, built, verified, or delivered on UpSolve must be good for humanity - or at minimum, not bad for humanity. This applies to the stated problem, its foreseeable uses, the way a solution is designed and operated, and the effects it may have on people, communities, rights, safety, and the environment.
2. What members commit to
Before posting or building, consider who could benefit, who could be harmed, what data or power the solution uses, and how misuse could be prevented. Describe the problem honestly, avoid hiding material risks, and do not treat speed, engagement, or profit as more important than human safety and dignity.
3. Prohibited problems and solutions
UpSolve must not be used to facilitate violence, weapons, abuse, exploitation, trafficking, stalking, harassment, illegal discrimination, deceptive manipulation, fraud, rights violations, unlawful surveillance, privacy invasion, malware, unauthorized access, or evasion of legitimate safety controls. Content intended primarily to cause harm is prohibited even if technically lawful in one location.
4. Builder responsibilities
Builders must use proportionate safeguards, minimize personal data, secure access, disclose important limitations, test foreseeable failure modes, and ensure claims are supportable. A technically impressive solution may still be rejected where its likely harms outweigh its benefits or cannot be responsibly mitigated.
5. Review and enforcement
UpSolve may ask for context, restrict visibility, reject a submission, remove content, reverse verification, or suspend an account where this pledge may be violated. Decisions consider purpose, capability, foreseeable misuse, affected people, available safeguards, and severity of potential harm. Where material uncertainty remains, UpSolve may choose not to host or present the content.
6. Shared responsibility
UpSolve review cannot identify every risk and does not replace each member's legal, ethical, security, or professional responsibilities. If you discover a serious risk or harmful use, stop the affected activity where possible and report it promptly to support@upsolve.co.
